Sessions & Tracks : Importing and Exporting Session Data : Importing Audio from Audio CDs

Importing Audio from Audio CDs
Pro Tools lets you import tracks from audio CDs using the same methods that you use to import audio files, as follows:
*
*
*
Use the Import Audio command.
Before importing CD audio, make sure your hard drive has enough space for the converted audio files.
*
Importing CD audio with either drag and drop method lets you continue working in the session foreground (such as in the Mix or Edit window), while the Task Manager (Window > Task Manager) works in the background (importing and converting the audio until the import is completed). For more information on the Task Manager, see Task Window.
Because the transfer is made in the digital domain, there is no signal loss.
The sample rate for audio CDs is 44.1 kHz. Therefore, if your session’s sample rate is set to 48 kHz or higher, Pro Tools will convert the sample rate for the imported audio. Before importing CD audio, set the Sample Rate Conversion Quality preference accordingly. For more information, see Sample Rate Conversion Quality.
